Services

The Technology Services Department provides a wide range of information and technological support to the Vermilion County departments and their users.

Technology Services

Accounting / Financial

The Technology Services Department maintains a complete accounting system for the entire county government operation with over 18,000 transactions per year.

Property Tax Cycle

A complex property tax real estate system from assessment to the actual printing of the property tax bills is managed in cooperation with four other departments: County Clerk, Treasurer, Supervisor of Assessments, and the Board of Review.

Over 56,000 tax parcels are managed.  Our department is responsible for the programming required to meet the needs of the ever-changing property tax system.

Voter Registration

The Technology Services Department is also responsible for the programming required for a complete Voter Registration System, Election Judge System and an Absentee Voter System.  Two separate offices (County Clerk and the Danville Election Commission) interact with these systems.  The Voter Registration System keeps track of approximately 50,000 registered voters in Vermilion County.  This information is used by the election offices to inquire on voters, print numerous reports, mailing labels and special forms throughout the year.

Candidates running for office are also allowed to request voter reports, mailing labels and voter files.  These services can be obtained through the respective election office.

Inventory Asset Management

The Technology Services Department is responsible for the programming and the data entry to maintain the county's Inventory Asset System.

Information Management & Reporting

Services that gathers information and then presents this information has seen an increase in the last few years.  This can cover desktop publishing, charts, slide shows, electronic forms, web pages, video & graphic arts type operations.  We offer a tremendous capability in this area for our county departments.

  Technology Services

IBM I-Series

Our department maintains an IBM I Series Server for our core Information systems.  This includes the Real Estate Property Tax System, Financial System, County Voter Registration System, County Election Judge System, County Voter Absentee System, City of Danville Voter Registration System, City of Danville Election Judge System, City of Danville Voter Absentee System, Economic Interest System, Coroner Information Database System, Technology Services Work Order System, Public Defender Client Database System and Asset Inventory Management.

PC / Network Support

Attempting to manage just one computer can be an arduous task.  Managing over 250 personal computers and network systems is a monumental one.  Our services in this area have increased dramatically in the last few years.  We maintain a diverse amount of software packages on various platforms and PC's.

Internet & E-Mail Support

Most of the Vermilion County government buildings and departments are connected with high-speed internet and e-mail access.  This has been a very challenging task, since each building and department has their own unique systems and requirements.

We also maintain the web page server and are responsible for maintaining the web pages.

Graphic Arts Services

A rapidly expanding service to all county departments.  With our numerous computer, printer and software assets, we offer graphic arts services to all county departments.  Services such as preparation and printing of business forms, business cards, maps, charts, books, leaflets, newsletters, photos, etc.  These products can be supplied on paper, hardcopy media or electronic media.  Color and black and white media is available.

Multimedia Services

Communications through visual arts, this service provides departments with the ability to create videos, photography, computer presentations, video animation, GIF animation, and audio on state of the art equipment.

Final projects can be placed on several types of media: CD-ROM, Web based, VHS tape, HI-8 tape, to name just a few.

  Geographic Technology Services

Vermilion County Base Map

Thousands of hours have been spent developing a Base Map of Vermilion County to be used in the Geographic Information System (GIS).  Many county departments use this map data in their operations (everything from law enforcement to election departments).  Maintaining this Base Map is an on-going project.

Geographic Analysis

One of the largest benefits of having a GIS system is the analysis capability it provides you.  Used for planning those "what ifs" in just about every aspect of county government.

Aerial Photography

Recently updated (12/1997) aerial photography spanning the entire county serves for even greater geographic analysis.  Scanned images in a library of over 17 gigabytes provide a real image backdrop for map analysis.  These photos can be duplicated.
