Thousands of hours
have been spent developing a Base Map of Vermilion County to be

county departments use this map data in their operations
(everything from law enforcement to election departments).
Maintaining this Base Map is an on-going project.
One of the largest benefits of having a GIS system
is the analysis capability it provides you. Used for
planning those "what ifs" in just about every aspect of county
Recently updated (12/1997) aerial photography
spanning the entire county serves for even greater geographic
analysis. Scanned images in a library of over 17 gigabytes
provide a real image backdrop for map analysis. These
photos can be duplicated.
